Welcome September!

Welcome September!  I have been yearning for you since May.

Now comes the Autumn and I rejoice!

UPDATE: My Mom seems to be more alert today and is responding to the nurses' commands!

*deep sigh of relief*

We'll be going to see her tomorrow along with Morgan Rose.  Hoping she'll acknowledge and know us.

I received some new stash today. Charts, buttons, fabric, and floss!

Afternoon in London and Afternoon in Paris from Country Cottage Needleworks plus some sweet Ladybug buttons!

Pumpkins 4-Sale (LHN) and ThreadworX Cotton Floss.

32 count Lugana from Picture This Plus in a gorgeous Jade Green!

*Stashgasm!*

I'll begin working on Pumpkins 4-Sale as my project for the Fall LHN / CCN Facebook Group SAL (Stitch Along)

Happy stitching, ya'll.  May your September be ever blessed.

The lighthouse above is the Cockspur Island Light.  It sits just off of Fort Pulaski near Tybee Island, where I was born and raised.
The "Waving Girl", Florence Martus, rowed out to the light often with her father, a lighthouse keeper.

New stash, new start...

Not really a "new" start, I suppose. I'm adding LHN's October Girl to the right-hand side of October Cottage.

I finished the vine and will work on "girl" tomorrow.  I think I may give her short hair and lots of grey, like mine!

I received new stash from 123Stitch.com:  Wild Salt Air from Hands On Design and 28 Ct. APRIL Lugana from Crossed Wing Collection.

I can't wait to finish OG and Pumpkins 4 Sale so that I can work on Wild Salt Air.

Have a wonderfully blessed evening!

Happy Stitching!

HAPPY DANCING -- October Cottage is done!

I took the last stitch in October Cottage about 20 minutes ago!

Now, to add October Girl next to it!

I so loved stitching this piece.  I had not stitched in so long, I thought perhaps I would never complete another project.

I am on a stitcher's high right now!

Don't forget to leave me a comment and tell me if you think I should offer a Birthday Giveaway!

Have a lovely evening and a great week.

Stay safe, Happy Stitching!

Upcoming Birthday and Giveaway!

My birthday is in late October and I've decided to host a giveaway.

I'll have a couple of winners.  Charts, scissors... who knows?

I would love to know if anyone is interested in entering -- just leave me a message on this post.

If I can get 10+ entries, I'll do it!

Happy Stitching! Stay safe everyone.

PROGRESS: October Cottage August 16th.

I've been stitching in spurts the last week,  but made good progress.  I'm almost finished with the cottage, just pumpkins, grass, and bottom border to go.

The above was my progress as of August 14th.

This is my progress as of 11:00 p.m. August 15th.

I changed the colours on the cottage and I made the door look like one we once had. I haven't decided if I'm going to fill in the windows of the cottage yet.

Can you believe it's Mid-August? Where has the summer gone? I've only been in the pool four times.  It rained the entire month of July (in the afternoon).

I am looking forward to September.  Now, if I could only convince our Governor and the President to abolish Daylight Saving Time!!!

Happy Stitching Y'all!

October Cottage and other nifty things!

July seemed to drag on and on.  I'm glad it's over.  August means that school is starting and Fall comes closer.

It's a bittersweet time.  I lost my beloved maternal grandparents (they adopted me when I was a wee lass) on the 3rd (1994) and 10th (1992) -- this is a difficult seven days.

However, Happy Husband and youngest daughter were born on the 27th and 29th.

I cope. Usually.

Happy Husband brought this sweet little stitching buddy home to me in a new coffee mug!

Isn't he adorable?  I'm calling him Buddy. Very original, dontcha think?

October Cottage:

Using my own colourway.  Mostly ThreadworX and a few flosses from Victorian Motto Sampler Shoppe

I am so enjoying this project.  I think I'll also stitch up August and December for my daughters birthdays.

I had forgotten how much stitching comforts me... how it relaxes me.  It's almost like the feeling of peace and contentment I have when I hold my Rosary and pray.

I am so grateful to the Good Lord for giving me the patience and ability to stitch again.  I am so blessed.

Happy Stitching, Ya'll!

Stitching... a bit.

Good afternoon!  I stitched a bit last night (spent the day doing laundry).  My progress as of 10:00 p.m. July 30.

If you're familiar with the chart, then you can see I'm using intense colours that I love rather than the the recommended lighter floss colours.

I hope July has been good to you.  It's really moved too slow for me -- I'm a cold weather girl.  August always moves quickly for me.  The 3rd and 10th are very sad anniversaries:  my grandparents (who adopted me as a baby) died on those days within two years of each other.  However, the 27th and 29th are Happy Husband and youngest daughters birthdays.  It all evens out in the end.

I hope you all have a wonderful day of love, laughter, and stitching!

Terri

New Computer and October Cottage Update

First of all, thank you to Happy Husband for the new HP Pavilion!  Getting used to Windows 10 will take a few days, but I LOVE this laptop!

I've made progress on October Cottage as well.  Stupid me... I thought I was working on lugana... it's linen. 32 ct. Belfast.  Apparently, I lost my mind when I stopped stitching.

Glad I've found it.

Have a very happy Weekend!  Keep stitching!

New Start: CCNs October Cottage

I started Country Cottage Needleworks October Cottage last night.  The fabric is 32 count Belfast Linen.  To save my life, I can't recall where or when I bought it.

I'm using cotton over-dyed floss from ThreadworX -- I love variegated floss -- my own conversion!

This is a large piece of linen and I intend to stitch Little House Needleworks October Girl next to it.

My birthday is in October and this piece is just for me!

Happy Stitching!

Overwhelmed

I have entirely too much stash.

Not good. I'm drowning in it. I keep too many charts in the hope that I'll stitch them one day. Let's face it, I'm 50. My eyes aren't as good as they once were.

I have to make some space.

I have to stop hoarding charts.

Fibers... not that's another issue. One can never have enough fiber! Or fabric. Although, the Good Lord knows, I have a lot of that, too.

I'm sitting here looking at box after box of charts, knowing I should be going through them and paring down to a manageable number. But I'm afraid to start. I'm afraid I'll just fondle them and then stick them back in the box with a promise to make time for them "one day".

I wonder if the "Hoarders" TV shows have ever encountered Cross Stitch hoarding? Stacks upon stacks of charts, flosses, fabrics, needles, scissors... hoops and q-snaps of every size...

I don't know if that's a nightmare or a dream-come-true! :D

No. I KNOW I have to make the effort. It's for the best. Wish me luck.

Once more into the breach...
