Overwhelmed

I have entirely too much stash.

Not good. I'm drowning in it. I keep too many charts in the hope that I'll stitch them one day. Let's face it, I'm 50. My eyes aren't as good as they once were.

I have to make some space.

I have to stop hoarding charts.

Fibers... not that's another issue. One can never have enough fiber! Or fabric. Although, the Good Lord knows, I have a lot of that, too.

I'm sitting here looking at box after box of charts, knowing I should be going through them and paring down to a manageable number. But I'm afraid to start. I'm afraid I'll just fondle them and then stick them back in the box with a promise to make time for them "one day".

I wonder if the "Hoarders" TV shows have ever encountered Cross Stitch hoarding? Stacks upon stacks of charts, flosses, fabrics, needles, scissors... hoops and q-snaps of every size...

I don't know if that's a nightmare or a dream-come-true! :D

No. I KNOW I have to make the effort. It's for the best. Wish me luck.

Once more into the breach...

Having been in the same spot as you, I can only say that the first chart is the hardest. Get through that one and the rest will begin to come easier. Good Luck!

I have been thinking lately that I have too many charts and should just stitch what I have rather than buy more but there are always such lovely new ones coming out!

I've been visiting a lot of bloggers that are saying the same thing! (I'm one of them!) Please let us know how it goes and if it's really as painful as it looks. LOL

I totally understand! I did go through my charts and got rid of a TON of them that weren't even to my liking anymore (wondered why I ever bought them in the first place!). I got rid of all of my aida as I never stitch on it anymore. I'm not a linen or evenweave snob. I just prefer it to aida, so gave away the aida. Fibers and other fabric...I've gotten rid of a little bit of that, but sorta tend to hoard it. (let me know if you are getting rid of any of your fabric and fibers. I know you stitch exclusively with HDF now.) Anyway, like some of the others said, you are not in the boat alone. The first chart is the hardest. Be brutal. I kept asking myself "will you really stitch this? You've had it for 15 years and haven't stitched it yet. Very doubtful." Poof...in the "get rid of" box. Good luck on your adventure. :)

It doesn't hurt to keep them. You never know what you may want to stitch from one year to the next. It is cheaper than rebuying something later.
