Don't get scammed.

Stitchers are, by nature, loving and giving folk. Stitchers are caring, emotional, and spiritual... and will give of themselves endlessly and unselfishly.

There are those who would take advantage of these qualities for their own gain.

When / if someone approaches you to "give" of your time and your talents, your funds and your goods, please take the time to do a bit of research into the person doing the asking.

Yesterday, at two different X-Stitch message boards, someone posted about a "tragic accident" and how her local LNS was co-ordinating a quilt for the young victim.

As it turns out, the LNS was only involved in said quilt because of a flyer given to them by the person in question. Other than that, they had no knowledge of the alleged incident.

As the person was called to task at one MB, her stories became confused and she was caught in several lies.

Beware, stitchers, and be wary. Do your research. Ask questions. Pay attention. Demand proof.

Don't allow yourself to be scammed. As even in our peaceful corner of the world -- there are those bottom-dwellers who feed on the Stitcher's good nature and willingness to help those less fortunate than themselves.
